Professor Teitelbaum is the recipient of a prestigious Israel Science Foundation grant to study the social role of the Saudi Arabian National Guard in the formation of the modern Saudi state. He continues to research issues of Saudi identity, tribal values, Islam, and larger issues of democratization and political liberalization in the oil monarchies of the Persian Gulf.
